What’s New?
24.08.03
What did you do on the bank holiday then?
I certainly hope you had more fun than I did!!! After burning the midnight oil to put the updated Thunderbolt pages and film on the site (our first.) I was running a few tests on the new site. All was going very well until ... that’s precisely what my PC did ... a pregnant pause. Frequent users of Bill Gates wonderful pinnacle of design and technology (joke!) will no doubt be well aware what a pregnant pause mean’s in the land of Windoze(sic). As a direct result and for no apparent reason, the whole site feel over on it’s face, and there it stayed!
Some four hours, several coffee’s and much frustration later... I had totally rebuilt the public section of the site and recovered the members section entirely. I felt justifiably proud. I shall remember that pride comes before a fall, or should I say crash. Because no sooner had I finished the recovery of the public site and the members site having been previously totally resolved and repaired. Then the curse of Robert Gates struck again.
Needless to say some what peeved at this point, I began the long hard recovery process for a second time. The thought was “well it only took me two and half hours last time to do this bit and I know what I am doing now so it should take less time.” If I get this done I thought I should still be able to make the Thunderbolt party and show off not only the site but also the film.
As they say, two hopes, and Bob’s just died...!
This time the error was much, much worse. As a result, if you are reading this, which I hope you are, then you may notice that some things about the site have changed. Why? I hear you cry. Well, simply because this is not the same site the original and much reworked site is unfortunately dead. It cannot be recovered or revived, I did try.
On the plus side, it does mean that the planned reworking of it has to be done now, and the hopefully more user friendly Navigation system has now been implemented. So welcome to the new site.
Other news, I have spoken with the exclusive, (should that be elusive?) flash man and he is now going to work on the game and also on the film. The newsletter page has been added to the members site and after awaiting a copy of the Newsletter via the correct file all week, we had to create our own web based version, but it does mean that it has pictures and links in it which the copy of the paper one would not have had.
Hope you enjoy the new site, Please feel free as always to comment or contact me here via the E-mail address.
Yours
(A slightly peeved and very tired) Editor
